In Memory Of Our Poets

Alexis M (Stanton) - Class Of 1998

Alexis M Stanton  went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a life devoted to faith, family, and love. She was the cherished daughter of Harvey and Martha Stanton, and a beloved sister to Tracey and Megan. She was a proud aunt to her sweet niece, Makayla, and her two nephews, Michael Jr. and Tristan, who brought her endless joy.

Born on May 5, 1980, in Montgomery, Alabama, she accepted Christ into her life at the ripe age of 10, where she remained a faithful member of Southside Church of Christ, serving in various ministries. As she progressed on her spiritual journey, she became a devoted member of the Acapella chorus Awesome Altos, a dedicated Sunday School teacher, a welcoming face of the greeting committee, and a choir director of Y.E.S.

Alexis lived a life rooted deeply in faith. Her unwavering belief in God guided every aspect of her life, and she touched the hearts of all who knew her with her gentle spirit, her prayers, and her Christ-like love.

Alexis graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1998. In the fall of 1998, she attended Alabama A&M University, where she later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. She later attended and graduated from Alabama State University with a Master's in Early Childhood Education. From an early age, Alexis had a gift of nurturing young minds and a passion for helping others grow. This calling led her to a lifelong career in elementary education. She dedicated herself to inspiring generations of students with patience, creativity, and unwavering kindness.

She will be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, and the quiet strength she drew from her faith. Whether offering words of encouragement, lending a helping hand, or simply listening with grace, Alexis reflected God’s love in everything she did.

Though her time on this earth was far too short in our eyes, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cora Bell Boyd Beasley and Randolph & Annie Ruth Lett Stanton.

Alexis leaves to forever cherish her loving memories; parents, Harvey and Martha Stanton; two sisters, Tracey (Michael) Maddox and Megan (Henry) Louder; one niece, Makayla; two nephews, Michael Jr. and Tristan; six aunts, Ruth Williams; Rosa (Eddie) Lett; Hannah (James, late) Harris; Shirley (Larry) Nettles; Jacqueline (Frank) Leslie; and Beverley (Ellis, late) Kidd; two uncles, Willie (Eloise) East and McKinley (Brownie) Stanton; two childhood friends, Katrina Smith and LaShanda Smith; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

Harvey & Martha, Parents

Our beloved daughter brought light and joy into every moment of our lives. Her kindness, strength, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in our hearts. We are so proud of the woman she became and will cherish every memory we shared. You were our heart and our joy. Now you are God’s angel. We will miss you every moment until we see you again."

 Tracey, Sister

"You were the light in our family, and to me, the sister who always understood. I will miss your smile, your hugs, and the way you made everything feel okay. You’ll always be with me —in my memories, in my heart, and in the quiet moments we used to share. God called you home, and though my heart aches, I find comfort knowing you are at peace. You were more than my sister—you were a blessing. Your love stays with me, and one day, we’ll be together again.

Michael Jr., Makayla & Tristan, Her Babies

"You were a gift from God—an aunt who loved us as her own. We’ll forever be grateful for your unconditional love and the warmth you brought into our lives. You stepped in like a mother, stayed like a best friend, and left a legacy of love. We know you’re now in His care, but we’ll forever carry your love, strength, and faith with us. We’ll miss you every day.
