Martha Burke Rouse (Fitzpatrick) - Class Of 1931

Martha Burke Rouse was born to L. D. Rouse and Thelma Bela Jones Rouse on February 13, 1914, in Montgomery, Alabama.  She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, and Hollins College near Roanoke, Virginia.

Martha was involved in many clubs and organizations in Montgomery, including the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, for which she served as president for the Montgomery chapter.  The Martha Rouse Fitzpatrick Elementary School in Montgomery was named in her honor by her family when they donated the land for its construction to the Montgomery County school board.

Martha married Clement Tranum Fitzpatrick, who had also attended Lanier.  Martha and C. T. had three children, who are all Lanier graduates:

Martha passed away in March of 1984.
