Cecil James 'Buddy' Shamburger - Class Of 1979

November 15, 1961 – July 16, 2025

Cecil James “Buddy” Shamburger, 63, of Eclectic, Alabama, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Buddy loved well and was a much-loved husband, son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his mother, Rose Ann Sevier Shamburger, and a nephew, Will Cooper. Buddy struggled with and overcame many health issues during his adult life, but the last seven years of lake-living and the community he found — in addition to his family — were a source of true joy.

He is survived by his high-school sweetheart and wife of 34 years, Margie Mitchell Shamburger; an aunt, Helen B. Sevier, who raised him along with Buddy’s mother; three siblings: Charles B. Shamburger (Tracy), Jonathan S. Shamburger, and Helen S. Herndon (Steve); aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. William Sevier of Grand Bay, Alabama; an aunt Norma S. Rose of Meridian, Mississippi; and many much beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Children’s Harbor on Lake Martin or The Humane Society of Elmore County.
