Harold Edward Meeks (1925-2017) - Class Of 1942

Harold Edward Meeks, 92, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Kim Meeks; brother, William "Billy" Meeks.

Mr. Meeks is survived by Jo, his wife of 68 years; children, Ingrid Meeks Macdonald, Ramona Meeks Sasser (Tyler), Summer Meeks Goray (Dair), and brother, Robert Adair Meeks; grandchildren, Ian Macdonald (Carly), Tigh Macdonald Rotanno (Andrew), Erin Bowman Hicks, Brynnan Goray and Rush Goray, 9 great-grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Auburn University in 1947 when it was Alabama Polytechnical Institute. He was a professional civil engineer and worked with the Alabama Highway Department and then in private industry for Choctaw Incorporated until he retired in 1992. He was a longtime member of Dalraida United Methodist Church where he served on the board and taught Sunday school for many years. His passion for Auburn sports was second only to his love for his family and friends.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Dalraida United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 PM with burial will follow at Greenwood Serenity Gardens.
