Cecil Edward Sellers, Jr. (1933-2015) - Class Of 1953

Cecil Edward Sellers, Jr., age 82, passed away on September 27, 2015.

He was employed as a civil engineer with the State of Alabama Highway Department and retired after 41 years of service. He served his country faithfully and honorably in the Korean War and retired as a Master Sergeant from the US Army Reserve in 1992. He was a twice-past Master Mason of the Andrew Jackson Lodge #173.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil E and Tessie Garner Sellers, and his brother-in-laws, Alvin Cleo Pierce and Robert Birk.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Evelyn Pierce Sellers; his son, James Edward Sellers; his daughter, Katherine Sellers Richert (Robert); four grandchildren, Jordyn Ashley Sellers, Austin Pierce Richert, Arianna Nichole Sellers Harris (Jeffrey), Ian David Richert; two sisters, Lynn Sellers Birk and Sharon Sellers Grasse (Joel); many beloved brother and sister-in-laws, Manning and Valorie Pierce, Douglas and Sandra Pierce, Elizabeth Pierce, Jack Pierce, Billy and Jill Lowery, Steve and Teresa Inabinet; and many special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Leak-Memory Chapel at 2pm. Visitation will be from 12 to 2pm. Following the chapel service, a graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to Eastern Hills Baptist Church or your favorite charity . The family would like to thank Charlton Place Nursing Home, Nettie Tolbert and Kimberley Prescott from Home Instead Assisted Living.
