Ethel M. Thomas (Golson) - Class Of 1924

Ethel Thomas Golson, 84, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died Monday, March 8, 1993, after an extended illness.

Survivors include one son, Thomas Harvey Golson, and wife, Elizabeth Huggins, Dallas, TX; one daughter, Mary Ann Golson Biggs, and husband, Charles Thomas Biggs, Durham, NC; three grandchildren, Jonathan Walter, Charles Edwin, and Patricia Dowdell Biggs, all of Durham, NC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William Crawford and Grace Williams Thomas, Montgomery, AL, and Dr. Walton Dowdell and Jane Ma-gin Thomas, Milwaukee, WI; two sisters, Anna Thomas (Mrs. James Peyton) Atherton, Montgomery, AL and Eugenia Thomas (Mrs. Chester Howard) Walker, Tuscaloosa, AL; one sister-in-law, Patricia Piper Thomas, Los Angeles, CA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Golson retired after 45 years with the Alabama Public Education System, most being at Cloverdale and Lanier Schools in Montgomery. She received a BA and MBA from Auburn University. She was a member of the Francis Marion Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Benjamin Fenn Chapter of the Colonial Dames, Kappa Delta Sorority, Kappa Kappa Iota, and Gib-..the First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 1993, at 11:00 a.m. from Leak-Memory Chapel with Bishop Paul Duffey and Rev. Torrence Maxey officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers will be William Holcombe Thomas, Henry Randall Thomas, Jr., George Williams Thomas, Chester Howard Walker, Jr., William Slade Rhodes, Spears Randall Rhodes, Joseph Raymond Crosby, III,' and Marcus Justin Wolf.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Jonathan Render and Mabel Randall Thomas Scholarship Fund (Huntingdon College, Montgomery), the First United Methodist Church, or one's favorite charity.
