William Donald Posey, 87 years old, passed away March 9, 2015, in Montgomery, Alabama. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 2:00PM - 3:00PM at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3:00PM. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Posey is survived by his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Posey, of Harrisburg, North Carolina, by his son Jim, and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Posey, of Austin, Texas, and by his grandson, Matthew Posey, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sara, and his mother, Mabel Grace, of Montgomery.
William D. Posey was born on January 23, 1928, in Prattville, Alabama. He attended Lanier High School. He began his service with the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and was stationed in Nome, Alaska, Austin, Texas, and Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. He served many years as Chief Master Sergeant, responsible for quality control with the Alabama Air National Guard, from which he retired.
He married Sara Frances Golden of Brundidge, Alabama, on April 23, 1961, and the couple had 2 children. He was involved in the Masonic Lodge and Heritage Baptist Church in Montgomery. He enjoyed Alabama football, working on automobiles, and fishing. He was endearing, quick witted, selfless, and dearly loved by his family and friends.
