After serving in the 7th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War, he joined Montgomery Shoe Factory / Brenner's, his family's shoe repair and luggage business, where he cheerfully greeted customers for over 50 years. Walter was a devoted son, father, husband and friend who was friendly, thoughtful and kind all his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reba and Sam Brenner; his Uncle Julius Brenner; two beloved wives, Barbara and Helene Brenner; and his son David Brenner. He is survived by his sons, Irving Brenner (Teresa) and Jeffrey Brenner (Joseph); grandchildren Rebecca and Nathan Brenner; his step-children/grandchildren Jon Sundock (Stephanie, Ben and Sophie) and Melissa Sundock Strane (Chris, Sam and Katie) and numerous cousins. He will also be missed by a large community of friends.
Outside of his family and friends, Walter's two loves were his synagogue, Agudath Israel (President 1983-85), and dogs of all breeds.
