In Memory Of Our Poets

Wendy Renee Williams (Herring) (1962-2015) - Class Of 1980

Wendy Renee Williams Herring, 53, passed away Wednesday night, July 29th at Brookwood Medical Center due to medical complications. She was a widow for only seven short weeks to the love of her life, her soulmate, James Glenn Herring. Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, John Melvin Williams and Beatrice Plyman Williams; and grandparents James Melvin Williams, Annie Knobloch Williams, Oscar Plyman and Dixie Luther Plyman.

Born April 1, 1962 in Mobile, Alabama, Wendy moved to Montgomery at the young age of two. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1980 where she served as a Student Council member, Cheerleader, and participant in History Club, Drama Club, French Club, Ushers Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Wendy went on to attend The University of Alabama -- ROLL TIDE!

Once back in Montgomery working as a Property Manager, Wendy had a blind date, met her one true love and on April 28, 1984 married James Glenn Herring at Normandale Baptist Church. Glenn and Wendy relocated to Hoover, Alabama in 1988 where they would start a family and a successful carpet-cleaning business - G&W Carpet Cleaning, Incorporated.

Wendy lived life to the fullest. She had a vibrant personality. Recently referred to as a spark plug, bringing energy to a room just by entering it. She lived passionately for her family and passionately for Christ and from beginning to end never forgot who was in charge. To know her was to know her to say "God's got this!" and she believed this with all her heart.

She is survived by her three precious children, Lindsey Nicole Herring, Ross Hunter Herring, and Parker Reed Herring who described her as having a child-like heart, teaching them from a young age to use their imagination to become whatever they wanted to be in life assuring them they would be amazing! They described her as being accepting, supportive and encouraging. They found her always to be funny and amazed by everything! This youthful animation is how she lived her life and how we all knew and loved her!

She also leaves behind with sweet memories one sister, Vickie Williams Parrish; one brother, John Anthony (Tony) Williams; two brother-in-laws, David Tisdale Parrish and Donald (Donnie) Ray Herring, Jr.; her future son-in-law, Rocco Joseph Romanelli; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donald Ray Herring Sr. and Dewie Mae Haney Herring; four nieces Brooke Parrish Phillips (Wes), Lacey Parrish Moody (Justin), Whitney Parrish Sheffield (William) and Courtney Parrish Faulkner (Turner); one nephew Brandon Heath Herring (Kelly); and seven great nieces and nephews, Brock Ethan Herring, Camp Phillips, Collier Phillips, John Turner Faulkner, Parrish Moody, Will Sheffield and Winston Sheffield and her life-long friend, Cheryl Perdue Freeman.

The celebration of Wendy's life will take place at White Chapel Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 5, 2015 followed by graveside at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery. The family will receive visitors from 12:00-1:00 p.m. The Reverend Doug Ferguson, the Minister of Mountaintop Community Church where Glenn and Wendy were members will officiate.

Pallbearers include Chuck Cunningham, Donnie Herring, Dean O'Ferrell, Matthew Orange, David Parrish, Rocco Romanelli, John Sherlock, and Tip Thames.

Today we are saddened by the loss of a loved one who has left us entirely too soon. However, we must find joy and happiness in knowing that she and her sweet husband, Glenn, are happy, healthy and head over heels in love in Heaven! Wendy would not want the focus to be on her birth nor these final days, but rather how passionately she lived her dash!
