Gerald "Gerry" Crenshaw Morton (Morgan) (1938-2016) - Class Of 1956

Gerald "Gerry" Crenshaw Morton Morgan, 78, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at her home in Auburn, Alabama, after a brief illness. Gerry was predeceased by her parents, Anselm Herbert Morton, Jr., of Montgomery, AL and Clara Geraldine Crenshaw of the Ridge.

There will be a graveside service at the Crenshaw Family Cemetery on Ridge Road near Greenville, Alabama at 10am, Tuesday, August 9, 2016, Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Greenville, AL. A reception at the church will follow the service.

Gerry is survived by her husband, Royden Gillis Morgan, of Auburn, AL; daughter, Marian Crenshaw Austin, United Kingdom; brother, Anselm Herbert Morton (Linda) of the Ridge, Greenville, AL; niece, Caroline Morton Huffman (Dane) of Raleigh, NC; nephew, Anselm Herbert Morton, IV, Snellville, GA; stepmother, Magdalene Eck Morton, Montgomery, AL; half-sister, Elizabeth Morton Eiswerth, Montgomery, AL, half-brother, John Eugene Morton of Arizona and numerous cousins. Gerry is also survived by Gillis's family, daughter Kathleen Morgan Alfrey (Timothy) of Atlanta, GA; son Greg Morgan of Tuscaloosa and granddaughter, Addison Alfrey.

The family would like to express appreciation to her wonderful caregivers, especially Freesia Pitts, Connie Cook and Geraldine.

Gerry was a proud graduate of The University of Alabama where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was named Outstanding Woman Graduate of the journalism school the year of her graduation. Gerry was known for her intellect, wit, stimulating conversation and her interests in reading, writing, gardening, cooking and family history.

Directions to Crenshaw Family Cemetery:
Ridge Road, Northwest Butler County From Greenville take Manningham Road which begins at the corner of Fort Dale Road and Manningham Road (CVS). Go West on Manningham Road for about 5 miles, until it ends at Ridge Road. Turn right on Ridge Road and go about 7 miles to the cemetery which is past a home on the right at 8566 Ridge Road. The cemetery is on the right with a meadow in front. You've gone too far if you reach the Bragg Hill AME Zion Church.
