John L. Carroll, born in Montgomery, Alabama, on September 27, 1938, passed away on December 16, 2013 in Indio, California. He is survived by his son, John L. Carroll, Jr.; daughter, Denise F. Obert; grandchildren, Jay Carroll, Beth Anne Carroll, Jennifer Obert, David Obert, John Obert, and sister, Kay Carroll.

John was a native of Montgomery and attended Sidney Lanier High School until he enlisted in the Navy where he served for 4 years. After an honorable discharged, he returned to Montgomery where he became a homebuilder and longtime member in the Montgomery Homebuilders' Association. He retired in 1999 and traveled throughout much of the United States during the next 15 years.

A Military Honor Guard funeral service will be held at the Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at 11:30am on Friday January 17, 2014.
