Funeral services for Dr. Bill Barrett, 72, of Whitesboro will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma. A visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel Whitesboro.
Bill passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at his home in Whitesboro with his family by his side.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1945, in Montgomery, Alabama to William Curtis Barrett Sr. and Pauline Henderson Barrett. He married Kathy Medlock of Huntsville, Alabama on April 13, 1968, in Huntsville after meeting her in Auburn, Alabama.
Bill received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. He began practicing veterinary medicine in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He owned and practiced medicine at Ardmore Animal Hospital for over 25 years. In the past 20 years, he served as a relief doctor and surgeon in various locations throughout Oklahoma and Texas.
Bill was an accomplished athlete in the sport of rodeo, competing in the calf-roping event.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy Barrett of Whitesboro, daughter, Heather Lane and son-in-law, Kevin of Leonard, son, Curtis Barrett, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer of Midlothian, four grandchildren, Joshua Barrett, Zechariah Barrett, Elijah Barrett, and Charley Elizabeth Lane; nieces, Jodi Collins and Leslie Collins Thompson. As well as many loving cousins and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pauline Barrett and by his sister, Janice Barrett Collins.
Pallbearers will be J A Saxon, Dan Harris, Johnny Mosley, Ralph Henderson, Danny Steele, Clif Cotton, Tim Bennett, and Glen Jones.
