Victor Eli Hanan (1926-2009) - Class Of 1944

Victor Eli Hanan died Sun­day, April 19, 2009. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Kay Hanan, brother, Bernard Eli Hanan and sister, Rachel H. Capp. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; son, Ellis Hanan (Mindy); daughter Annette Bolton (John); granddaugh­ter, Amelia Denise Hanan; sis­ter, Felice Cohen (Isaac); brother, Richard Eli Hanan(Jeanette); sister-in-law, Gaby Capp; godson, Max Levy, many nieces and nephews and a multitude of wonderful friends. Vic was a home builder for over 50 years, serving as past president of both the Mont­gomery Home Builders Asso­ciation and the Alabama Home Builders Association.  He was the first to be included into the Greater Montgomery Home Builders Hall of Fame and was also inducted into the Alabama Home Builders Hall of Fame. He was select­ed to serve as Director of the National Home Builders War­ranty and was currently serv­ing as Board Member of the Home Builders Licensure Board. Vic also served as past president of the Alabam­a Quarterhorse Association.  He was also a past president of the Montgomery Jewish Federation. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Temple Beth Or with Rabbi Elliot Stevens offici­ating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Morris Capp, Elliot Cohen, Steve Mill­er, Kelly Owens, Alan Weil, Joe Erdberg and Robert Ber­man. Honorary pallbearers will be David Baylinson, Joe Capilouto, Steve Cardwell, Rubin Franco, Marcus Daniel, Leon Capouano, Ralph Ca­pouya and Mark Johnson.  Memorials may be made to Temple Beth Or or the charity of one’s choice.
