Irma Pauline Castleberry, 103, a Montgomery resident, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She was born in Pike County on Sept. 21, 1913, to Abraham and Mary Bell Castleberry, and she had one sister, Mary Lucille Castleberry; all have predeceased her.
Ms. Castleberry worked for many years at St. Jude's Hospital, the Montgomery Exchange Club (1953-1977), and retired in 1981 after 38 years with the Alabama Department of Pensions & Security. She was proud to be a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, first with the Sophie Bibb Chapter in 1981, and later she joined the Cradle of the Confederacy, Chapter 94, where she was always an active member. She was also a member of the Ladies Memorial Association, where she was loved by all members.
All agreed she was exceptional in conversation, as it was a joy to listen to her personal history. Her friends will meet at her Graveside Service, Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 2 PM, in Greenwood Cemetery.
