Nina Harriet Dulin-Mallory was born in Oxford, Mississippi, on November 21, 1946, to Wilbur Nelson Dulin and Frances Murray Markette Dulin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, W. N. Dulin Jr. Her children survive her: Nina Markette Baker (James) of LaGrange, Aruther Eugene (Bo) Mallory (Allison) of Pike Road, Alabama, and US Navy CAPT. Judson Dulin Mallory (Leslie Ann) of Mayport, Florida, and six grandchildren, Jack Baker, Nina Frances Baker, Ava Mallory, Ruby Mallory, Judson Andrew Mallory, and Robert Mallory. In addition, a sister, Pamela Dulin Rogers of Huntersville, NC, and brother, Paul Dulin of Easley, SC, eight nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Clemson University with a degree in English and French after being named Miss Clemson University in 1965 and awarded The Trustees' Medal in her graduating class in 1967. After earning a Master's degree from LaGrange College, she earned a Ph.D. in Medieval Literature from Auburn University. She received a National Endowment for Postdoctoral Study at Yale University and Harvard University's Center for Hellenic Studies.
Dr. Dulin-Mallory taught for 37 years at LaGrange College, and it was work she cherished. Upon her retirement, the faculty voted her to the title of Professor Emerita. During her tenure at the College, she served as Chair of the Department of English, as Faculty Representative to the Board of Trustees, and as President of the Faculty Assembly. Dr. Dulin-Mallory was awarded both teaching awards at the College, the Vulcan Materials Teacher of the Year Award, and the United Methodist Excellence in Teaching Award.
In 1999, she was the first advisor to the Honor Council, having guided the process of writing and initiating an academic integrity assessment and eventual Honor Code. Dr. Dulin-Mallory also served as President of the Executive Board of the International Center for Academic Integrity at Duke University.
Dr. Dulin-Mallory has served as President of the Junior Serve League, the Junior Woman's Club, the Mutual Concert Association, the LaGrange Ballet Theater, and as a member of the Troup County Library Board and the Spectator Book Club.
She was a devoted member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in LaGrange. For over 50 years, she taught Sunday School, served on the Altar Guild and the Flower Guild, served as a lay reader, and was a member of the Vestry. She wrote Christmas plays, repaired vestments, and baked thousands of cheese straws. All of it paled in comparison to the love and support returned to her by the parishioners and Rectors of St. Mark's.
The greatest joy in her life was her family. They are devoted to one another and have made the world a better place.
The funeral will take place on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church or to the LaGrange College Honor Council.
