Edna Irene Patrick Cook passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 after an extended illness. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Jasper Dunbar Patrick and Daisy Belma Goodson Patrick on August 18, 1927.
Mrs. Cook attended Goode St. School and Cottage Hill Elementary Schools, Baldwin Jr. High and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. She attended Howard College in Birmingham and later graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery. She was a member of the English, History and Education Honor Societies and a lifetime Phi Kappa Phi member.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, her husband of 60 years, Allen M. Cook and a daughter Elizabeth Ann Cook.
Survivors are a daughter, Cecilia Cook (Jep) Dalton, and a son David Allen Cook, and four grandchildren; three grandsons, Michael and Brian Dalton, and Patrick Cook and one granddaughter, Ashley Cook.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, with visitation at 9:00 AM prior to the services.
As a member of Frazer UMC she volunteered in the "English as a Second Language Program" and the reading program in the public schools of Montgomery. She worked 30 years in the USAF Civil Service and part time in the Huntingdon Learning Center.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Mrs. Cook's honor to The Smile Train or The Methodist Church Children's Home.
