Paul Ivey, age 52, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery and operated Landex Landscaping as well as the former Cypress Farms Golf Center.
Paul was also a retired firefighter with the Montgomery Fire Department. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and went on to play baseball at Alabama Christian College (now Faulkner University). He was a youth sports coach to hundreds of local youth, and continued playing local baseball himself during his younger years.
For the last 20 years, he was an avid rugby player, playing with the Montgomery Yellowhammers, Gypsies, Orbs, and Gwinnett (GA), among others. He was also the former head coach for Troy University's rugby club.
He is survived by his three children, Chris (Kasey) Ivey, of Montgomery, Alabama, Ashley Ivey, of Birmingham, Alabama, and Knowlton Ivey, of Tallassee, Alabama; granddaughter, Leyton Ivey; his father, Mr. William "Bill" Ivey, of Montgomery, Alabama; his brother, Jerry Ivey, of Wetumpka, Alabama; sister, Leigh Blackwell, of Montgomery, Alabama; Scott Ivey, of New York, New York, and Marie Frankum, of Newnan, Georgia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 10:00 am at Leak Memory Chapel with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
