Franklin H. James (1922-2013) - Class Of 1940

Franklin H. James, 91, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away in his home on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.at Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Mr. James (Pop) was a WWII veteran and retired from the State of Alabama as the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Capitol Heights United Methodist Church. Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents Walter James and Atha Mae Daniels, his wife, Jean T. James, his brothers, Earl, Edward, Ervin (Red), Quinton and Wilbur and his sister, Nellie Windham. He is survived by his wife, Freida Lazenby James; his son, Donald (Donnie) James; his daughters, Lynda Thompson and Julie James; four grandchildren, Randy James, Karen Yendle, Melissa Thompson Faulkner and Lacy Thompson Headley; eight great-grandchildren, Trey and Madelyn James, Hayden, Meghan and Lauren Yendle, Slade Headley, and Bella and Liddy Faulkner. The family would like to thank Larry Jennings, Stephanie Brown and hospice for the love and care they provided Pop. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montgomery Area Food Bank, 521 Trade Center Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36108.
