In Memory Of Our Poets

Edith A. Carldwell (Daniels) - Class Of 1976

Edith Aronia (Carldwell) Daniels, 66, peacefully left this realm on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in Denver, Colorado.

She was born on September 19, 1958, in Montgomery, Alabama, where, as the middle child, she formed a central bond with her two brothers and two sisters, became one of the first Black cheerleaders in her junior high school, and soon after followed her desire to see more of the world.

Quickly becoming enamored by its mountains and other grand features, she moved to Southern California, which would become her home for most of her adult life. She served honorably as an aircraft electrician in the U.S. Air Force, taking advantage of the opportunity to explore her love of foreign lands, languages, and cultures.

Attending her Pentecostal church in Victorville, California, became central to her life, where she formed strong friendships and where her steadfast love for God and humble spirit of service to others continued to flourish. Outside of church, Edith was a big fan of TV and film, with action, adventure, and sci-fi being among her favorite genres. She enjoyed creative writing, decorating, and travel, with Hawaii becoming a lifelong favorite destination. She made her last home in Denver, Colorado, where she continued her commitment to public service as a civilian federal employee before retiring.

Edith lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to her family and country. Full of compassion and creativity, capability and skill, dignity and wisdom, she was straight-laced and reserved, yet with a playful side she couldn't suppress.

A loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Tara Nicole (Daniels) Strand, Edith also took great joy in her role as grandmother to Jack Strand and welcomed her son-in-law, Donald Strand, as a true member of the family.

Survived by her daughter, Tara; son-in-law, Donny; grandson, Jack; her sisters, Geraldine "Tina" Carldwell and Eunice Carldwell, and her brother, Kenneth Orlando Carldwell.

Edith was preceded in death by her beloved older brother, Clifford Carldwell, her parents, Woodrow W. Carldwell and Caudy L. Carldwell, and several extended family members.

Those who knew Edith will remember her as a loyal supporter, a quiet yet steady presence, and a woman of deep integrity and grace. Her commitment to her faith and family was unwavering, and her memory will live on fondly in the hearts of all who knew her.
