Jerald Martin Conway (1956-2014) - Class Of 1974

Jerald M. Conway, Jr. died in his sleep at home on December 29, 2014. He was 58 years old. He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Conway Russell.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Burke Conway, his parents, Jerry M. and Florence Conway, his brother Donnie Wayne Conway (Ginger), brothers-in-law William F. Burke (Jana) and George A. Yarbrough, five nieces, Stephanie Conway Johnson (Cory), Nicole F. Conway, Mary Britt Burke, Louise St. Claire Burke, Margaret P. Burke and his nephew, Caylan Conway (Mollie).

He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1974. He then attended Auburn University at Montgomery and graduated with degrees in both Chemistry and Environmental Science.

Jerald was employed by the Montgomery Water Works and Sanitary Sewer Board for 38 years. He was Director of Environmental Services which included management of the environmental laboratory. He was very involved in the area of clean water and environmental issues. He was a member of the Alabama Clean Water Partnership, the Alabama Water Watch, the Montgomery County Water Festival, and the American Water Works Association. He was also a life member of the NRA.

Visitation with the family will be held between 9:30-11:00 on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Southern Memorial Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will be at 11:00am followed immediately by the burial at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.
