Lanny Ray Wood (1952-2014) - Class Of 1972

Lanny Ray Wood, 61, left us on April 10, 2014 with his family by his side at his home in Titus, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church with Rev. Faron Golden, Rev. Corey Dennis and Rev. Burney Enzor officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Lanny was born August 8, 1952, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Charles and Louise Wood, where he graduated from Sidney Lanier High School 1970. Lanny lived a great life. He was a devoted father, husband, son, and brother. He loved to fish and loved Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lamar "Stretch" Wood, and his mother, Frances Louise Wood.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mrs. Lanny Ray Wood; his father, Charles (Laura) Wood; his daughters, Heather (John) Adams and Tabatha Wood; his grandchildren, Kyler Adams, Christopher Wood, and Alexis Wood; his sister, Cecelia Fran (Chuck) Quakenbush; sister-in-law, Patty Wood; along with nieces and nephews, Shelby, Seth, and Caleb Quakenbush and Shawn and Justin Wood.

Pallbearers will be John Adams, Kyler Adams, Chris Wood, Greg Gober, Michael Wood, and Tim Wood. Jerel Henley will serve as honorary pallbearer.

To all the friends and family that prayed for Lanny during this difficult time, we extend our sincere appreciation and love to all, and a special thank you to Southeast Hospice Network.
