Sarah Lee Williams (1954-2022) - Class Of 1972

Ms. Sarah Lee Williams was born to the late Jerry and Leola Williams, on December 25, 1954, in Montgomery, Alabama. On Monday, November 7, 2022, our beloved “ Sarah Lee” closed her eyes for the last time and went to the beautiful home of the soul, to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Although gone from our midst, she will always remain in our hearts and precious memories.

Sarah was educated in the Montgomery Public School System and was a 1972 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Zion Baptist Church, in Montgomery, Alabama. Her secondary education included attendance at Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) and Auburn University at Montgomery where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1982.

Upon graduation, she worked at the Tuskegee Institute and the Alabama Commission of Higher Education. Upon her relocation to Montgomery, Sarah joined the First Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a teacher and member of the Sunday School Ministry.

From December 17, 2001, to her retirement on July 31, 2021, Sarah was a financial estate analyst for the US Courts, in Montgomery, Alabama. Sarah was an active member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Alabama, serving as Past President from 2000-2001. Currently, she was the Webmaster. She was a member of the Alabama State Employees Credit Union Board of Directors. She is the recipient of the Edward & Judith Kamnikar Merit Award for 2005 and 2017.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Leola Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories: godsons, Daryl McCloud and Ronald Morris; devoted and caring church members, special friends, and a host of cousins.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 305 S. Perry Street, Montgomery, Alabama. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
