Brenda Ann Tyus Jarvis, 71, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on June 8, 2024. She was born March 12, 1953, in Michigan, the daughter of the late H.L. Tyus and Annie Ruth Tyus.
Brenda met the love of her life, Jake Jarvis, Jr. in 1968 at Krystal’s on Norman Bridge Road in Montgomery. Excited to begin their lives together, they married on June 18, 1971. They had two beautiful daughters, Heather and Ricki.
Brenda worked in many political fields and government agencies. She served as the Assistant Director at the State Commission of Aging for four years and worked for Senator Howell Heflin’s office. She also dedicated personal time to the Alabama/Florida Junior Civitan for multiple years.
Brenda was preceded in death by both of her parents, H.L. and Annie Ruth Tyus, three brothers Edwin Tyus, Jimmie Tyus, and Ricky Tyus, and her oldest daughter Heather Goggin.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Jake Jarvis, daughter Ricki Oliver (Derek), brother Roger Tyus (Sarah), son-in-law Wade Goggin, grandson Hayden Oliver, granddaughter Isabel Oliver, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of Life service will be held at Southern Memorial on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 12:30 PM with the family receiving friends at 11:30 AM.
In place of flowers, the family is requesting donations made in her name to The Alzheimer’s Association.
