In Memory Of Our Poets

Susan J. Sullivan (Blanchard) (1952-2022) - Class Of 1971

This was posted on her Facebook page:

Posted by her loving husband Scott Blanchard who will retire her account after a period of mourning.

Susan Sullivan Blanchard (previously Bunn) transitioned to the next realm at home recently after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Susan was born in Hartford Alabama but spent her formative years growing up in Montgomery. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in the class of  1971. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Special Education and received her Master of Arts in Education degree from UAB. She worked 27 years for Birmingham City Schools as an Itinerant Special Education teacher. She had a great love of horses, having grown up on a small farm, and was a lifelong University of Alabama football fan.

She will be deeply missed and is freed from her suffering at last.

She is survived by her husband and caregiver Scott Blanchard, her loving son Justin Bunn and his Fiance Riley Griffith, and her many cousins in Leesburg Florida.  She was active for many years in the Birmingham  Soccer community, first with intramural Soccer with Justin and later with Our Lady of the Valley and continuing with John Carroll Soccer.

Service plans are incomplete at this time.

We want to thank all of the wonderful people of Southeast Hospice, and especially Debbie Duncan, Stacey Levy, Dayle Ennis, Gayla peoples, and Pastor Ernie, along with immeasurable gratitude to Teya Montgomery who was so important to her and her caregiver. I also want to thank the kind people at Publix Pharmacy who were so helpful and went out of their way to fulfill often difficult requests. Thank you, Lyndsey, John, Doug, and the rest of the team.
