Thomas P. McCabe, Jr., "Tommy" to the many who loved him, died on December 2, 2023. Tom was born to Thomas Perkins McCabe and Ann Cammack McCabe on December 9, 1949.
Tom graduated from Sidney Lanier High School where he was voted "Friendliest" in the Who's Who every year. Tommy loved people and they loved him back. He attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1972. Tom returned to Montgomery to begin a career in retail sales.
Tommy loved old movies, art, theatre, anything to do with history, traveling and parties. He was very involved behind the scenes at the Montgomery Little Theater where he made lifelong friends. Tom had a remarkable memory and could recall details and events that he incorporated into humorous reflections and stories. Sitting next to Tommy was always fun.
Tommy was devoted to his family. Every one of his nieces and nephews as well as their children adored "Uncle Tommy".
Tom is survived by his sister, Pat McCabe Forman (Ross) and his brother, John David McCabe (Marcia) as well as five nieces and nephews: Anne McCabe Schilleci (Vince), Emily Forman Robertson (John), John Warner McCabe, Mary Forman Samuels (Booth), David Cammack McCabe (Lowrey). But the ones he really doted on were his great nieces and nephews: Vince, Reid, Anna Frances, Cam, Cat, Jack, May, Fletcher, Will, and Ross.
A private family-only memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 12. After the service, friends are invited to a visitation at 3:00 in the McDavid Room across from the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, please send any memorials to John Knox Manor, 4401 Narrow Lane Rd., Montgomery, AL 36116. Tom served on their board for many years.
