After graduation from Lanier, I headed off to the University of Alabama. My first date at the Capstone was Alison Feagin from Monroeville. We dated for three and a half years and married in December 1968 before graduating in June 1969 and entering the Marine Corps and flight school. For the next 26 years we went wherever the Corps sent us including FL, MS, TX, Okinawa, Viet Nam, NC, MD, and VA. For twenty of those years I flew the Harrier and spent a good bit of time deployed and aboard ship. Alison kept the home fires burning at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. After retiring from the Corps, I taught high school chemistry in Springfield VA for 18 yrs. and earned a Med and PhD. We have two sons, David born in Texas in 1973 and Matthew born in North Carolina in 1977. David is an infectious disease doctor in Winston-Salem NC. He and his wife Tammy have two children, Nathan and Olivia. Matt is the president and CEO of the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America and he and his wife Lisa have three girls, Madalyn, Katie, and Isabelle. They live in Fairfax Station, VA. We currently live in Winston Salem, NC.
