Robert "Bob" Fletcher Childs, Jr., a resident of Birmingham, Alabama, died at his home on March 27, 2018. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Tuesday, April 3rd at 11:00 with Rev. Ben McDavid officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of his sister at 3148 Rolling Road Montgomery, Al 36111.
Bob was a founding member of Wiggins Childs Pantazis Fisher & Goldfarb where he practiced for almost 40 years. He devoted his practice to defending the civil rights of workers and individuals throughout the United States.
Bob's passions included family, his work and the University of Alabama where he earned his undergraduate and law degrees. He also excelled in athletics where he played football for Coach Bear Bryant from 1965-1969. He was named an All-SEC linebacker and was selected an Academic All-American while playing for the university.
Bob was born in Clarksville, TN on January 4, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fletcher Childs, Sr. He is survived by family members: Gwen Belle-Isle, his sweetheart, Daughters: Mimi and Paul Dunn (Emily, Hunter, and Livy), Beth and Shane Otto (Spencer and Virginia), Lesley and Mickey Hoodless (Lily Grace), and sister Susan Kohn (Bobby).
Pallbearers will be family members.
