Mr. Jan Marshall Keown, 69, of Auburn, Alabama passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016, following an extended illness.
A visitation will be held at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Auburn at 5:30 p.m. on November 1, 2016, with the Memorial Service immediately following. The Committal Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on November 2, 2016, at the Columbarium at Town Creek Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Wells Warren officiating.
Jan graduated from Lanier High School and Huntingdon College in Montgomery and attended graduate school at Auburn University. He was a lifelong learner and an avid reader. He was employed at the U.S. Postal Service in Opeloka for over 31 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara W. Keown; sister, Susan K. McIntosh of Madison, Alabama; niece Charlotte Tubbs (Brandon) of Alexandria Louisiana; nephews, Brian McIntosh of Huntsville, and Scott McIntosh (Kaitlyn) of Auburn, Alabama; great nieces Abigail and Caroline Tubbs of Alexandria, Louisiana, and several cousins and close friends.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Bethany House for the excellent care he received there during the last months of his life. In place of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany House or the Lee County Humane Society.
