Fred Eugene Varner died early Wednesday morning on April 20, 2016. He is survived by his wife; Janet Blevins Varner, his children; Mark Varner (Shannon), David Kennedy (Erica), Shawn Rooker, Shannon Blackmore, Melva Carroll(Jim). His grandchildren include: Cole and Kaley Varner; Jordyn, Madison, and Conner Kennedy; Kurt and Seth Blackmore.

Mr. Varner's family also included his father and mother: Robert K. Varner and Mabel Burgess Varner as well as his brothers and sisters: Betty Jean Bentley (Frank), Bobby Varner and James Earl Varner.

A graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, Mr. Varner also attended Troy State University (Troy University). A member of the Masons and a Shriner, worked with several area companies including: Bordens, Durkees, Baker Brothers and Applied Industrial Technologies.

Visitation for Fred Varner is set for Friday, April 22 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home with graveside to follow at 2:00 pm in Greenwood Cemetery.

Amedisys Home Healthcare will service as honorary pall bearer.
