Edgar Wyatt Stephens, 82, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Monday, March 23, 2026. He was preceded in death by Father Oliver D. Stephens, his mother Hassie Mann Stephens, his brother Herbert Stephens, and his sister Olivia Rineheart. He was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church.
Some of his greatest accomplishments include teaching children math and working as an accountant for the Commission on Aging, where he helped to bring the Medicaid Waiver program to Montgomery, which is still going strong today. He was also appointed Interim Director of the Commission on Aging. Wyatt loved poetry and became an award-winning poet.
Wyatt appreciated and loved his relatives, who would regularly call on him, especially Gwen Davis and Tim Hall.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Greenwood Cemetery with Father Alejandro Valladaris officiating.
In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to St. Bede Catholic Church, located at 3870 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
