Gypsey Pool Capell, age 76, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away after a brief illness May 11th, 2018. She was proceeded in death by her parents Marie Elizabeth Blye Pool, Benjamin Mitchell Pool, and her sister Elizabeth Lynn Pool.
Gypsey was born on October 27th, 1941 in Repton, Alabama. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1959. She attended Queens College and graduated from Auburn University in 1963 where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She taught for two years at Lee High School and was Director of Sav-a-Life (First Choice) for three years. She was past Treasurer of The Junior League of Montgomery and was an active member of the No Name Literary Club. She taught numerous Bible studies throughout her life. Some of the more memorable being Bible Study Fellowship, Tutwiler Women's Prison, and Oak Grove Retirement Home. For many years she also hosted a citywide singles bible study in her home.
Mrs. Capell is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Lowery Capell III, her brother Benjamin E. Pool (Katherine), her children John Lowery Capell IV (Lisa), Elizabeth DuBard (Derik), and Nell Weisenfeld. She is also survived by Elizabeth's children Ann Lowery and Lillian Black, Nell's children Caroline and Andrew Weisenfeld, nephew Greg Pool (Mary) and their daughter Harper, and niece Rebecca Pool.
A celebration of Gypsey's life will be held at Young Meadows Presbyterian Church on May 16th, 2018 at 2:30 pm and prior to the service, visitation will be held at 1:30.
