Barbara A. Russell (Robinson) (1939-2008) - Class Of 1957

ROBINSON, Barbara Russell, 68, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2008 at a loca lhospital.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 13,2 008 at Leak-Memory Chapel at 1:30 pm with visitation be­ginning at noon.  She was pre­deceased by her parents, Foy and Doris Russell and her brothers Bennie and Donnie Russell.  She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Paul F. Robinson; daughters, Laura (Jim) Alldredge of Fayette­ville, GA and Julie (Darren)Anderson of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, James and Katie Alldredge, William Dyess and Harper Anderson; sisters, Betty Looney, Fairborn, OH, Linda (Troy) King, Bel­green, AL; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Russell, Wetumpka, AL. Barbara graduated from Lanier High School in 1957 and Auburn at Montgomery in 1991.  She loved studying history, working at the State Archives, and most of all,s pending time with her grandchildren. For more than thirty years she was a volun­teer for the American Heart Association (AHA). She served as chairman for Heart Sunday in Montgomery County for several years.  She also served on the State Board of Direc­tors of the AHA and was re­sponsible for starting the first CPR courses offered in Mont­gomery in the 1970's.  Active pallbearers are David Russell, Jonathon Russell, Jim Davis, Scott Robinson, Scott Looney and Randy Armistead.  The honorary pallbearers are Bill Robinson, Dr. Kent Robinson, Tom Davis, Joe Reese, Mark Barrett and Scott Gosnell. Flowers will be accepted but a donation to the AUM History Department Fair-Robinson Scholarship fund or the Ameri­can Heart Association would be our preference and great­ly appreciated.
