Sara Ellen Trotter (1938-2009) - Class Of 1956

Sara E. Trotter, Class of 1956, passed away on 8 February 2009 in Bridgeport, Texas at the age of 70. She was a barrel racer in her younger years, then became a professional dog handler for the rest of her life.

Obituary Located and Posted on January 23, 2018 :

Sara Ellen Trotter, 70, a resident of Decatur, Texas, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, after a brief illness. Her body was donated to Southwest Medical Center, Dallas, to further research the prevention and cure of diseases, followed by cremation, and interment in the Medical Center Memorial Gardens.

Sara was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on May 5th, 1938, and moved to Texas while working for the USAF and the FAA in the Civil Service. She also worked the rodeo circuits as a barrel racer before entering her life-long profession as a dog handler with the American Kennel Club, until health concerns brought about her retirement.

Pre-deceased by her parents, Ralph E. and Marguerite Trotter, she is survived by a brother, Robert E. (Beth) Trotter, Montgomery, Alabama; a sister, Jacqueline (Jimmie) Varner, Highland Home, Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews in Alabama, Delaware, Florida, and Washington.

Elizabeth "Betsy" A. Vaughan (Arnold) (1956)

Sara Ellen Trotter was born to Ralph Edgar Trotter and his wife Marguerite Trotter. She was survived by her sister Jacqueline Varner (Jimmy) of Montgomery, Alabama and brother Robert Trotter. She donated her body to science at her death. This information is taken from her obituary in the montgomery advertiser.

Lawrence Asher (1976)

My mother was living in Highland Home, AL, not Montgomery. And her husband (my stepfather) is Jimmie, not Jimmy).
