Tommy Royal was born in Elmore County on Nov 14, 1937. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama in 1956. He was very talented in art and drawing and attended Auburn University. He left Auburn and joined the Navy. He married Sally Stout while he was in service. He returned to Montgomery to be close to his mother and sister. He had three children. He was killed while coming home from Tuscaloosa to attend a Boy Scout event at Memorial Presbyterian Church with his son. His car ran off the road outside Prattville on Highway 82 in Autauga County, Alabama. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama.
