Daniel Harris Rhyne, Jr. (1937-2011) - Class Of 1956

Daniel Harris Rhyne, Jr., 73, died after a brief illness on June 14, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Harris, Sr., and Mary Rosamond Rhyne.

Mr. Rhyne was born in West, Mississippi and at an early age moved to Montgomery, Alabama where he remained a lifetime resident. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1956 and continued his education at the University of Kentucky where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Dan was one of the founding members of Christchurch. He was a past president of the Montgomery Lion's Club, a former member of the Jimmy Hitchcock selection committee and a past director of the Montgomery Country Club. He was also a longtime member of the Masker's Organization; a group of men much beloved by him.

Mr. Ryhne is survived by:
His wife of 51 years, Judy Tucker Rhyne;
His daughter Kimberley Rhyne Carr;
His son Daniel Harris Rhyne, III and his wife Susan Pippen Rhyne;
His adored granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Carr and Caroline Page Rhyne;
His sister Rosamond Rhyne Black and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Benjamin Jernigan McNeill, Thomas Carr Crewe, Robert Rogers Jolly, John Thomas Stallings, Jr., Richard Arledge Ball, Jr., Harry Houghton Smith, Jack Thorington, Jr., Miller Bonner Engelhardt, Tranum Fitzpatrick and William Inge Hill, II.

Honorary Pallbearers: Seaborn Kennamer, Benjamin Jernigan McNeill, Jr., Laurens Pierce, III, Gary Williams and Webb Mixon Watters.

Funeral services will be held at Christchurch on June 17th at 11:00am followed by a private interment for family members. Visitation will be at Leak Memory on June 16th between 5:00-7:00 pm.
