Gayle Hays Sadler, 76, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. She was born in Headland, Alabama, on August 10, 1938.
Gayle graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and received her B.S. Degree in Home Economics from Huntingdon College. She married Richard A. Sadler on August 31, 1963.
Gayle was a full-time wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked as a Test Kitchen Home Economist at Oxmoor House from 1988 until her retirement in 2003. Over the years, she volunteered at church, Brookwood Hospital Women's Center, and in many other positions. Gayle was a member of Bluff Park Baptist Church and loved her family, Alabama football, Lake Martin, sewing, cooking, friends, and helping others.
Survivors include Gayle's husband, Richard; three daughters, Kathy Davis and husband Dave, Karyl Sellers and husband Gary, and Kristi Blackwell and husband Eddie; grandchildren, Elliott, Griffin, and Darcy Davis, Nona Sellers, Abby, Hays, and Logan Blackwell; brother, Charles C. Hays; and loving nephews, niece, and their families.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by the 3 p.m. funeral in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. The private burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
Memorial gifts may be made to Bluff Park Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
