Lula Ethel Sanders (McGuff) (1917-2009) - Class Of 1936

Lula Ethel Sanders McGUFF - Born to Lillian Sanders and L. Clarence Sanders on Dec. 28, 1917,  in Ringold, LA, Ethel died on Aug. 22, 2009 in Aus­tin, TX, where she has lived for the last 12 years.  She gradu­ated in 1936 from Sidney Lan­ier High School, Montgomery,  AL, and attended Huntingdon College also in Montgomery.  She had one brother, Verbon, who died in WWII.  Ethel mar­ried Clyde McGuff in 1939 and they had one son, Clar­ence McGuff of Georgetown, TX.  Throughout her life, Ethel has been active in Church, especially at First Baptist Church in Columbia,  AL, where she was a Sunday School Teacher.  She was also active in the Women’s Mis­sionary Union and Eastern Star.  After moving to Austin, she joined FBC Austin.  Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband.  She is survived by her son and his wife Martha, grandsons, Marcus and Mi­chael and Michael’s wife, Lynn, their children, Nathan, Malorie and Lucas.  Services will be held at White Chapel in Montgomery on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at 1:00 PM preceded by visita­tion from 12:00 - 1:00 PM, the Rev.
