Lt. Col. Bolling Hall "Rod" Rawlinson (1917-2005) - Class Of 1936

RAWLINSON, Lt. Col. Bolling Hall, USAF (ret.), "Rod" Rawlinson passed away Memorial Day, 5/30/05 in Denver, CO.  Born in Coosada, AL 11/21/17, youngest son of Robert M. & Mary Louisa Hall Rawlinson, he was raised in Millbrook, & enlisted early in the Army Air Corps in WWII.  Pilot & B-17 Squadron Commander, he was shot down & badly wounded over Germany 6/13/43.  After 2 years as a POW in Stalag Luft III, he spent many more years in hospital & recuperation & was awarded a Bronze Star.  In midlife he started a new career as a stock-broker in Denver, working into his 70's. His quiet courage & devotion to family will be greatly missed by his wife Alyce Jeanne Reed Rawlinson, Denver, daughters Jeanne Hall Ashley, MIllbrook, & Margaret Reed Rawlinson, Denver, & a host of extended family & friends. Memorial services were held at St. Michael's & All Angels Episcopal Church, Fr. Mark Waldo officiated, 9/17/05, Sat. at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Elmore County Humane Society, American Lung Association, or Elllerslie Cemetary Trust, P.O. Box 18, Millbrook, AL 36054.
