Sheryl Lynn Hays Hamilton passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, after a second battle with cancer.
A child of military moves, Sheryl came to Montgomery from Dayton, Ohio in 1972, transferring to Sidney Lanier High School. She made lifelong friends and was known for her infectious smile and velvety voice in the limelight of the Lanier Singers.
After graduating in 1973, Sheryl traded the spotlight for behind-the-scenes work when she began a long career in media at Storer Communications. Her talents were quickly appreciated, earning her a key role in production, editing, and camera operation, which led to many successful years as a production manager. She continued to move up, as Storer became Charter and later Spectrum, staying 45 years, winning many awards and becoming a respected and unrivaled source of mentoring and kindness to decades of colleagues.
Sheryl was married in 1988, moved to Wetumpka, and had her daughter in 1991. She continued the travel of her youth, with multiple trips to Europe. Ultimately she shared the travel bug with her daughter on a trip to Paris.
In 2016, she bravely fought and won a battle with Cancer, but lost a second battle in October 2024. Sheryl remains beloved by all who knew her and is especially missed by her sister (Carol Hays, class of 1975) and her husband, daughter, and granddaughter.
