Miss Nell Hagedorn (Physical Education 1927 -1964)

HAGEDORN, Nell, age 102, died on June 15th 2006 at John Knox Manor after a lengthy illness. Miss Hagedorn was born in Westpoint, Georgia on November 18th 1903. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jenny Heryman Hagedorn and father, Zach Hagedorn; seven sisters; and one brother. She moved with her family to Montgomery, Alabama in 1914.  She received a B.S. degree from the University of Michigan, and taught Physical Education in the Montgomery Public Schools, including 36 years at Lanier High School.  She is survived by nephew, Ralph Loeb, Jr. (Ellen); great-nephews, Robert Batlan, David Batlan, Milton Cohn, Jack Davis; great-nieces, Judith Batlan Clack, Jane Cohn Langley, Sharon Loeb Shackelford, Janis Loeb Daemmrich, and Jenny Davis Compton; as well as many great-great nephews, nieces, and other family.  She also leaves many devoted nurses, who cared for her for many years. A memorial service is planned for June 29th 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from Temple Beth Or, 2246 Narrow Lane Road, Montgomery, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
