In Memory Of Our Poets

Renzo Meade Guy II (Principal 1964-1966)

Renzo Meade Guy II, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

Born in Letohatchee, AL in 1927, Meade was a long-time resident of Montgomery who excelled at school; first at Montgomery's Starke Academy and then at The University of Alabama, receiving his Bachelor's and Master's, and finally at Auburn University, obtaining his doctorate in Education Administration.

Meade devoted his life to helping others obtain an education, proudly serving as the Principal at Bellingrath, Pine Level, Baldwin, and Sidney Lanier schools in Montgomery and at Henderson High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon return to Montgomery in 1974 he served another 15 years with the Alabama State Department of Education traveling around the state assisting school administrators in improving their educational procedures and outcomes.

To say Meade was an Alabama football fan is an understatement. Meade and his wife of 74 years, Bebe, who preceded him in passing, traveled extensively to attend Alabama football home and bowl games. Upon retirement Bebe and Meade also enjoyed events with their camping and golfing clubs, traveling throughout the state and southeast.

Meade is survived by sons Robert Meade Guy of Pintlala, Joseph Sherman Guy (Kathleen Cody Guy) of Atlanta, GA, and his grandson Duncan Maxwell Guy.

Graveside services are to be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2 pm. Funeral arrangements by Fischer Funeral Care of Atlanta GA.
