MORRIS, Dr. Anderson (Andy) Morrow, age 57, passed away Sunday evening with his wife Mary by his side near the family's lake home on Lake Martin. Born April 12,1950 in Birmingham, Alabama to Margaret and Buford Morris, Sr., Andy spent his childhood years in Tallassee and Montgomery. During years at Sidney Lanier High School, Andy met the love of his life Mary Johnson. The two enrolled at Auburn University in the fall of 1968 where he earned a B.S. in Pre-Med and English. They were married in 1971 and he is father to Pelham and Meg, his greatest accomplishments. Andy earned his M.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1980. His 27 years of medical service, most recently in private practice with CardioVascular Associates, PC, in Birmingham, were filled with many accomplishments including founding and serving as Medical Director of the HealthSouth Heart College, starting the Pacemaker Program at CardioVascular's Brookwood Campus as well as starting the Nuclear CardioDepartment at CardioVascular Associates. An innovative physician focused on prevention, Dr. Morris was loved by his patients. Andy was an avid Auburn Football fan and member of the John W. Heisman Club as well as a valued supporter of his alma mater, sitting on the Advisory Board of the Auburn University College of Math and Science. He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Harrison Morris, Sr, Grandparents Margaret Morrow and Benjamin Paine Anderson, Birmingham, and Nadine and Ramey Patterson Morris, Knoxville, Tennessee. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Anderson Carpenter, Montgomery, Alabama; loving wife of 36 years, Mary Johnson Morris; daughter Margaret Morris Blackney (Shawn), Nashville, Tennessee; son Pelham Anderson Morris, Birmingham; brothers Buford Harrison "Grits" Morris, Jr. (Mary Foy), Montgomery; and Daniel Winston Morris (Rebecca), Montgomery; aunt Libby Anderson Cater Halaby, Washington, D.C.; nephews Buford Harrison Morris, III (Kelton), Dothan, Alabama; Herbert Thomas Morris, Montgomery; Daniel Winston Morris, Jr., Montgomery; and William Savage Morris, Montgomery. A memorial service will beheld at Mountaintop Community Church (225 Centerview Drive, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216)at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm in the Atrium at the church prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers are his partners at CardioVascular Associates. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
