Julia Beth Thacker (1958-2006) - Class Of 1976

THACKER, Julia Beth, age 47, passed away Friday, April 14, 2006.  She was a native of Warren, Ohio. She lived most of her first five years in Johnson City, Tennessee. When she was five, she moved with her family to Montgomery, Alabama.  After graduating from Sidney Lanier High School and attending Montevallo University, she made Birmingham her home.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Aldersgate Sunday School Class. Julia was very active in the Trinity music program, being a member of the Sanctuary Choir, the Ladies Ensemble, piano accompanist for the Trinity Orchestra and the Crusader Children's Choir and a “Choir Mom” for the Trinity Cross and Flame Youth Choir  She was owner of "Julia's Touch", a gardening and landscaping business, which she developed after discovering her artistic gifts in growing and arranging plants and flowers. Julia was preceded in death by her older sister, Claire Thacker Wells in 1973, and her father, Jack Preston Thacker in 1999. Survivors: Her mother, Helen Mooney Thacker, Birmingham; brother and sister-in-law, Drs William Edwin and DaLene Thacker, Redding, California; Aunt, Virginia Noble, Stevens Point, Wisconsin; Uncle, Rev. William Mooney and wife Sylvia, Oak Ridge, Tennessee; several cousins, and best friends Greg and Lisa Day. Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, at 10:00 a.m. in the Narthex at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Oxmoor Road, Birmingham.  Immediately following the visitation, a memorial service will be held in the Trinity United Methodist Church Sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Program of Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209; or Community Hospices of America, 3500 Blue Lake Drive, Suite 270 Birmingham, Alabama 35243; or the charity of one's choice.
