Carol Upchurch (Walker) (1935-2007) - Class Of 1953

WALKER, Carol Upchurch, a resident of Holmdel, New Jer­sey, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at her home. Born in Montgomery in 1935, Mrs.Walker was the daughter of the late William Kendrick and Eloise Burton Upchurch, Sr.  She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, attended Hollins University and gradu­ated from Huntingdon Col­lege. She was a founding member and served on the Board of Directors for the Rest­less Legs Syndrome (RLS) Foundation. She was also a member of the Sleep Disorder Advisory Board at the Nation­al Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.   She was a lov­ing and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Mrs. Walk­er is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Thad O.Walker, Jr. (CDR, USN, Re­tired); son, T. Owens Walker, III (CDR, USN), and daughter-in-law Rebecca of Monterey, CA; daughter, Elizabeth Walk­er Prekker (MAJ, US Army) Baghdad, Iraq, and son-in-law, Richard (SFC, US Army) of Ft Belvoir, VA; brother, Wil­liam Kendrick Upchurch, Jr.and his wife, Anne of Mont­gomery; and five grandchil­dren: Austin Borror-Chappell, Haley Walker, Lindsay Pre­kker, Victoria Walker, and Caroline Prekker and mother-in-law, Edwina D. Walker of Montgomery. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm, Thursday, July 26, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, Montgomery, with burial following at Green­wood Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church Friend­ship Room one hour prior to the service. Dr. Charles W.Roberts, Peachtree Road Pres­byterian Church, Atlanta, GA, and Rev. Jeremy Pridgen, First United Methodist Church, Montgomery, AL, will offici­ate. Pallbearers will be Austin Borror-Chappell, Sam Camp­bell IV, Steve Schwartz , W. Ken Upchurch III , Edward Walker II, Steve M. Walker, Thad M. Walker, William A.Ward.
