WALKER, Carol Upchurch, a resident of Holmdel, New Jersey, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at her home. Born in Montgomery in 1935, Mrs.Walker was the daughter of the late William Kendrick and Eloise Burton Upchurch, Sr. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, attended Hollins University and graduated from Huntingdon College. She was a founding member and served on the Board of Directors for the Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) Foundation. She was also a member of the Sleep Disorder Advisory Board at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Walker is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Thad O.Walker, Jr. (CDR, USN, Retired); son, T. Owens Walker, III (CDR, USN), and daughter-in-law Rebecca of Monterey, CA; daughter, Elizabeth Walker Prekker (MAJ, US Army) Baghdad, Iraq, and son-in-law, Richard (SFC, US Army) of Ft Belvoir, VA; brother, William Kendrick Upchurch, Jr.and his wife, Anne of Montgomery; and five grandchildren: Austin Borror-Chappell, Haley Walker, Lindsay Prekker, Victoria Walker, and Caroline Prekker and mother-in-law, Edwina D. Walker of Montgomery. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm, Thursday, July 26, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, Montgomery, with burial following at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church Friendship Room one hour prior to the service. Dr. Charles W.Roberts, Peachtree Road Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, GA, and Rev. Jeremy Pridgen, First United Methodist Church, Montgomery, AL, will officiate. Pallbearers will be Austin Borror-Chappell, Sam Campbell IV, Steve Schwartz , W. Ken Upchurch III , Edward Walker II, Steve M. Walker, Thad M. Walker, William A.Ward.
