In Memory Of Our Poets

Dorothy Helen Morgan (Smith Tripp) (1934-2013) - Class Of 1953

Dorothy Helen Morgan Smith Tripp, 79, a resident of Montgomery passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 09, 2013 at her home. She was born October 8, 1934 in Troy, Alabama, to her late parents, Aubrey Smith Morgan and Irene (Redmond) Morgan. She is survived by her husband, TSgt James R. Tripp (Ret. USAF), son, MSgt Kenneth Mack Smith (Ret. USAF) (Tracey Cassady Smith) of Wetumpka, Alabama and loving grandchildren, Jason Morgan Smith, Montgomery, Alabama, David Mack Smith, and Mary Elizabeth Smith (Dittie), both students in Auburn, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles W. Smith (Ret. USAF).

Helen Morgan Smith Tripp graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1951. In her youth, she was an all star basketball and softball player and was talented enough to play on men's softball teams. Because her husband, Charles Smith, was in the Air Force, she lived all over the world including Guam, Edwards Air Force Base California, and Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina; eventually retiring to Prattville, Alabama. She later moved back to Montgomery following her husband's death.

Ms. Helen will be greatly missed by friends and family and her precious dog, Pickle. We know Heaven's Gates have opened wide for this beautiful wife, mother and grandmother who always believed in the power of our Lord Jesus Christ and his forgiveness from the cross.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, 1304 Upper Wetumpka Road, Montgomery, Alabama.

Because of Ms. Helen's lifelong love of dogs, please donate to the Elmore County Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
