Flora Belle Grant (Reese) (1936-2017) - Class Of 1953

Flora Grant Reese of Montgomery, Alabama passed away March 12, 2017, at the Palliative Comfort Care Center, UAB.She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Flora Belle Grant, brothers William and James Grant, sister Anne Belle Whitlock, brother-in-law Frank Whitlock and nephew Art Whitlock.

Mrs. Reese was born January 28, 1936, in Montgomery Alabama to Arthur and Flora Belle Grant. She graduated from Lanier High School, Huntingdon College and the University of Alabama. Her first employment was with the Alabama State Department of Education. After receiving her MLS she was a member of the Huntingdon College faculty from 1972 to 1990, then retired and continued part-time until 2016. She was the first librarian of the College to be granted tenure.

Mrs. Reese is survived by husband Edwin Reese, nieces Holly Grant, Kristen Cope, Constance Grant, nephew Dean Grant, great nephews Tyler Grant and Stephen Cope. Thanks to very special friends Jimi Andoe, Jacki Eaves, Huntingdon College library staff and UAB doctors.

A memorial honoring Mrs. Reese will be held April 23, 2017, at 1:00 pm in the Jean Rogers Chapel, Huntingdon College followed by a reception in the Huntingdon Library Atrium.
