Dick S. Anderson (1935-2015) - Class Of 1953

Dick S. Anderson, 79, died on February 5, 2015. He was born in Montgomery, AL on October 6, 1935 to Virgil Lee Anderson and Kathleen Simms Anderson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Anderson.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anita Benson Anderson; two daughters, Christine Owen (Phil), and Melisssa Hirst (John); three grandchildren, Jay Owen, Will Owen, and Catherine Hirst; and one great-grandchild, James Owen. He is also survived by one brother, Lee Anderson.

Mr. Anderson attended Sidney Lanier High School and Auburn University where he graduated in Building Construction and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Samford Society. Mr. Anderson was also a graduate of the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.

He returned to Montgomery to have long careers with Algernon Blair and Caddell Construction Company. He was a member of the American Arbitration Association and a life-long member of First Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Monday, February 9 at Leak Memory Chapel from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any children's charity of choice.
