Emily R. Nordan (Dembitsky) (1933-2016) - Class Of 1952

Emily Nordan Dembitsky passed away peacefully at her home in Montgomery on Friday, March 18, 2016. She was 82. Emily was born on November 20, 1933 to Emily Reynolds and Curtis Maley Nordan Sr. She was predeceased by her parents, along with her brother Curtis Maley Nordan, Jr. She is survived by her son Nordan Zenon Dembitsky of Vestavia Hills.

Emily attended Sidney Lanier High School and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1956. In 1965, she wed the great love of her life, Zenon Walter Dembitsky. Their early married life was a truly exciting adventure in Southeast Asia where Emily flourished as a military wife and traveled the world. Emily and Zen returned to Montgomery in 1975 where she was a devoted and doting mother to their son Nordan.

After Zen's death in 1987, Emily enjoyed working with the Montgomery Junior League, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and sharing her love of needlepoint through numerous volunteer projects for local churches. Emmy was beloved by many for her sense of humor and generous nature and will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Emily's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 22, at First United Methodist Church with visitation at the church at 2:00 pm.
