Tommie L. Hudgens (Smith) - Class Of 1952

Tommie Hudgens Smith, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on September 11, 1934, Tommie was a long-time resident of Montgomery, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gerald Bernard Smith, Sr. Funeral services will be held at Landmark Church of Christ, Montgomery, AL with Minister Scotty Harris and Jeff Langham officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Lapine/Sellers, AL.

Tommie is survived by her siblings, Nollie Edge Hudgens of Hope Hull, AL; Ronald Scott Hudgens of Wetumpka, AL; and Elaine Hudgens Evans of Montgomery, Alabama.

Her children also survive her: Carol Smith Cluck (Ed) and Gerald “Bern” Bernard Smith, Jr. (Lucy Durr Elmore), both of Montgomery, Alabama.

Her legacy extends to her grandchildren, Christy Cluck Cronier of Pike Road, AL; Neil Cluck (Holly) of Wetumpka, AL; and her great-grandchildren, James Tapley Cronier, Thomas Edward Cluck, and Adeline Rose Cluck.

Her faithful love of the Lord marked Tommie’s life, strong work ethic, and meticulous note-taking. She proudly taught Sunday School to elementary-aged children for many years. Her family and friends will always remember her with much love and admiration.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024, at noon, at Landmark Church of Christ—service at 12:30 pm, with graveside following at Bethlehem Cemetery, Lapine/Sellers, AL.

Gerald “Bern” Bernard Smith, Jr., Ed Cluck, Neil Cluck, James Tapley Cronier, Don Cluck, and Mike Sealy will serve as pallbearers.

In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to their charity/organization of choice.

Tommie will be deeply missed, but her memory and the love she shared with her family will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
