Martha Jane Hamn Dawson
March 9, 1933 - August 2, 2024
Martha Jane Hamn Dawson, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died peacefully on August 2, 2024, surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Ascension on Tuesday, August 6, at 11:30 am with the Reverend Candice Frazer officiating. A reception and visitation with the family will follow at Ascension Hall.
Martha Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, M. Taylor Dawson Jr., and is survived by her children Debbie Dawson Davis and her husband Paul Everett Davis Jr., M. Taylor Dawson III, Ginny Dawson Haynes and her husband Oliver Lynn Haynes III, and Mary Dawson Pinson and her husband Don Hughes Pinson; and her sister Patty Williams Seale.
Her grandchildren survive her, Oliver Lynn Haynes IV and his wife Haven Roach Haynes, Dawson Haynes Mitchell and her husband Morgan Head Mitchell III, M. Taylor Dawson IV and his wife Brittany Yancy Dawson, Alexander Sutherland Dawson, Ginny Anne Pinson, Don Hughes Pinson Jr., and two great-grandchildren Oliver Lynn Haynes V and M. Taylor Dawson V.
Martha Jane was a remarkable person whose innate ability and desire to reflect God’s love delighted and uplifted the spirits of everyone who knew her. The memory of the joy and happiness she brought to others is the legacy she leaves to lighten the footsteps and brighten the hearts of all whose lives she touched.

The family would like to recognize those who cared so lovingly for their mother: Diane Gordon, Carolyn Robinson, Patricia Moore, Gloria Bailey, Nichole Dillard, Brenda Mallory, and Nicole Mallory.
In place of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances be made to The Church of the Ascension at 315 Clanton Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36104, or to the charity of your choice.
